About Me

So, You wanna know more about ME? Every now and then I get e-mails from followers and people who read my blog asking me to tell more about myself since I mainly just post my crafts and not much info about ME...
I will admit that I sometimes neglect my blog, but please understand that I do NOT intentionality do this. I have a very unpredictable life due to having schizoaffective disorder-bipolar type. There are some days I don’t even get out of bed, but I try my best. Also, in 2011 I got into a car accident and I had back surgery (October 2012, and November 2012) so I don't always feel like sitting up for long periods to work on crafts.

Anyhow, I have some time right now so I’ll sit and make a list of things about me. :) If there is anything you’d like more details about, please let me know through a comment and I’ll reply. When you comment, please click the box to “subscribe to e-mail” so that you can get replies when I reply back on my comment section. Otherwise, you won’t know I’ve replied because replies don’t go to your email unless you check that box.

So, about me…

California Born, Nevada Transplant, then Kentucky Transplant, and then sadly and shamefully, back to Nevada Transplant :( Finally after years of longing, became a Vermont transplant. Wasn't what Hubby and I expected so in July 2018, we reached our hearts destination back to our adopted home state of Kentucky.
I'm a 41 y.o. KID AT HEART!!! Born in the early morning hours of June 24th, 1978. I am married to a WONDERFUL, supportive and very loving guy. We have been together for 22 years now!
We have a very difficult life because we are both on disability. Hubby for a physical disability and myself for a few things, Schizoaffective Disorder-Bipolar Type, ADHD
(carried over from childhood but progressively worse as an adult), Major Depressive Disorder, Fibromyalgia and Lupus (sle)-- (those are my official diagnosis from my doctors and verified and approved by the SSA Disability Guidelines). These are all serious health issues that affect my way of life daily. So, I just take everything one day at a time. There are a LOT of misconceptions about these health issues, so please, if you don’t know about them, read about them to learn.

If you want to learn a little more about Lupus (sle) there is some really good, CLEAR information here:

So, enough about MEDICAL stuff!!!

Hubby and I have been together for 22 years. We got legally married in 2006 in a very small, intimate ceremony with three of our closest friends, hubby's mom and brother and my daddy. My girlfriend Becca stood for me, and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else in her place! Mine and hubby's mutual friend Jenn stood in place of hubby having a "best man", because they have known each other most of their lives. Becca's hubby Trev was nice and video taped the wedding for us. Hubby’s mom and brother were there as was the 2nd most special and important man in my life, my Daddy.

Our ceremony was held at Mill Springs Mill in Monticello, Kentucky, and we got married on the platform that was the overlook for the lake. It was in March, on the 18th, the day after St. Paddy’s day. We had a Half/Half ceremony. It was a traditional Scottish ceremony (to represent hubby's family history) with the tartan cloth pinning and we incorporated the Hand-fasting (rope/knot tying over joined hands) as well. We wrote our own vows, but incorporated some of the Pagan wording of traditional Pagan wedding vows into it, since Paganism is the type of religion/lifestyle we mainly live by and follow. On our wedding day, the weather was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! It was sunny, but chilly and a tiny bit windy; however, not too much that we couldn't enjoy the day. Now, the day after our wedding, we woke up to what, if it were December, we could call a "white christmas". LOL it had snowed so much, almost 3 feet of snow! I was thankful it didn't snow on our wedding day, but even if it had, we'd have still married where we did, the snow would just have been an addition to a beautiful day!

We do not have biological children because I had PCOS which affected my fertility; however, we do have 2 fur babies. If you want to read about our furbabies, you can click the link above for "My Family".

Education.
I believe you can NEVER get enough education!! It's always good to continue to read and learn and expand your knowledge because you never know when you'll need it and when it will come in handy, and how you may be able to help someone else with said knowledge. In May 2011 finished my Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice. A month later my credit transfers were completed and I received my Associate of Arts in Juvenile Justice. I really wanted to be a parole and probation officer, but that dream was shattered because it’s just too much of a high stress job that I really shouldn’t be doing because it can cause major issues with my Schizoaffective Disorder AND because I am red flagged by the state and I'm not allowed to possess a handgun due to my mental health issues. My disorder wasn't as advanced back then as it is now, so I had hopes of being able to work. I used to want to be a college teacher, but in order to teach in the state of Kentucky, you have to have a Master’s degree now. So, that is out! I wasn't always able to go to school full time, and I had to repeat a lot of classes because of issues with my health and my mental health. But I never quit, I stuck it out! I am the first person on either side of my family, 3 generations back to complete college. That was a great feat for me and I was very proud of myself!

As far as crafting goes, well, that is what this blog is really for. It is obvious by my blog that I
LOVE, lOvE, LoVe, to craft! I like to do scrapbooking and card making, but my main passion is card making more than scrapbooking. But I also like to do other altered art. Aside from crafting I really enjoy just being on the internet and playing some games. I have a club membership on www.pogo.com (my screen name is friskerbizkit). Some of my favorite games to play are Dominoes, Rummikub, Gin, phase 10, canasta, sequence, cribbage, uno, hand in foot and boggle. Hubby does NOT really like to play board or card games, so I have to play them online with friends.

Other hobbies that I greatly enjoy are cross stitching (I can only do the printed kind cause I’m dyslexic and sometimes get stuff wrong when counting, I’ve messed up MANY counted cross stitching LOL), drawing and writing poetry.

I greatly enjoy watching tv too! My favorite shows are Survivor (I HATE RUSSELL AND COACH!!), Bones, Reno 911, Criminal Minds, big brother, Bob's Burgers, family guy, American dad, Lingo, lilo and stitch, The Legend of the Seeker, Wheel of Fortune, River Monsters, and I like quite a few shows on the Food Network Channel especially CHOPPED!

As far as movies go, I REALLY enjoy all the Disney movie cartoons, animated movies (despicable me, gnomeo and Juliet, chicken little, etc.) ALL of the Tim Burton movies, movies with Johnny Depp and movies with Angelina Jolie (those are my two favorite actors). Hubby and I are REALLY into the Harry Potter series and the Resident Evil movies and let me not forget all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies! I like the movie joe dirt, the dark crystal and of course the kill bill movies. I have a wide range of movies that I really like. :)

As for books, I greatly enjoy reading true crime books (I like REAL true crime stuff, not fiction!) I also like to read biographies, forensics books and some teen/young adult fiction (some of those books are so imaginative!).

For music, there are TOO many to list them all. But, I like a wide range of music. My all time favorite band is AC/DC. Come on, who DOESN’T like them? I also greatly enjoy P!nk and Evanescence, as I can really relate to both of their songs in such deep ways. Green day is really high on my list too because they always speak the truth in their music. I also like Justin Timberlake (stop laughing you meanie!!) Bauhaus and Erasure are great as well. Melissa Etheridge, Styx, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Cure, Dixie Chicks, Sarah Brightman, Staind, Paramore, Floggin’ Molly, Nine Inch Nails, Loretta Lynn, and of course Ozzy! I know, what a great mixture, right? I mean hey, they are all classics and you have to have respect for them. :)

I have to admit, I’m greatly addicted to tattoos! I have several, 9 to be exact, though only one of them is a “big” one, taking up the whole upper half of my left arm. I love to draw, I’m very good at it and I’ve had many people tell me that I need to get into being a tattoo artist because I can really make art come to life. In fact, one of the tattoos my hubby has, I drew. :) It's a wicked fish, a cross between a koi and a catfish. I also write poetry and I would love for some of my writings to become songs one day. When I was in grade school and jr. high, I played the violin. I have one now that hubby bought me as a gift quite a few years ago, I don’t play it a lot, but I do pick it up sometimes. A few months ago, I watched a show about the concentration camps. The music that was on the show inspired me. I took out my violin and I played for about 30 minutes. Just really soft songs that would make a nice background music to the memory of the people that lost their lives during that tragic time.

Music is something that really inspires me. It feeds my soul, it helps me express my feelings. Music is something that we should FEEL, something that makes us come to life.

Speaking of tattoos, I've been asked about the angel on my wrist... In honesty, I’m not a "religious" person other than my Paganism, but that's more Spiritual than religious. My tattoo has nothing to do with religion... I don’t want to offend anyone that does believe in god, because I know that having “something” to believe in can really change one’s life and give them a different outlook on things. I am more spiritual than anything. I do not believe in god. I DO believe there is a higher power, but I don’t know if it’s a man, a woman, or an alien. No one was there to truly meet the higher being. I strongly believe in my Goddess, Mother Earth and Father Sky.
Hubby and I live a Buddhist philosophy. Karma, what goes around comes around, be kind to others, always, no matter what. I don’t believe in doing good deeds just because you want to get into a so called "heaven". You should want to do good ALL of the time, not just because you think you have to in order to get somewhere. I believe our earth is like a relationship, you get back what you put into it. Let’s face it, Mother Earth is PISSED. We have ruined our planet with greed and disrespect. We need to honor ourselves and respect each other. Like Ellen DeGeneres always says, “be kind to one another”.  What happened to the days when you could go to your neighbor and ask for an egg or a cup of sugar? Now, if you do that, you get the door slammed on your face, if they even open it at all. We need to realize that this world is what we make it. If we scam with greed, distrust, and ill intentions, we aren’t going to get anything back.

My angel tattoo is a matching tattoo to go with hubby's little devil tattoo that he has on his left wrist as well. I have "candy angel" and he has "devil doll". It is really a cute internet story by a friend of ours about an angel and a little devil who are attracted to each other but they are led to believe it's wrong. it's really a cute story, you can see it here:

With that being said, I try my hardest to be a good person, a good friend and someone that is always there for people that need me. I don’t ever expect anyone to do for me. I think it is nice when they do, but I never EXPECT it from anyone! I want people to treat me with the respect that I will treat them with. I am a very loyal person and a good friend. If I make mistakes, I admit it, if I do something wrong, I admit it, but I always try to be the best type of person I can be. Honesty is the best policy; there is NO reason to lie to anyone for any reason, not even to save someone’s feelings. Sometimes, telling someone the truth will hurt their feelings in the beginning, but it will do them good in the end because they won’t continue to go through life doing the same thing that hurts or offends others (or at least that is what I hope, but I've recently learned VERY differently!) I do NOT like liars, thieves, homophobes or racists. If you are any of those things, there is no room for you in my world. I do not do well with being friends with people who are intolerant of others because of who they love (or what they do in the privacy of their own bedroom) or what the color of one’s skin is. I will NO longer put myself out there and make compromises to be friends with someone who has one of those traits, because it just shows what kind of a person they truly are!

I will always be true to my friends and do good deeds expecting nothing in return except love and respect. With that, I say to you, my friendly followers, please always be honest with me. If I make something that is ugly, TELL ME. LOL I can learn from others and I can definitely take constructive criticism.
I hope that this have given you a little bit of insight to my life. If there are any questions regarding any of this OVERLOADED information I’ve give you, please ask. :)

Keep on Craftin’ and be kind to one another!
~Melisa Marie

P.S.
If there is (being), there are things and wheres but not nowheres or nothings nor everywheres or everythings. If there is not (before existence), there are no things or where but there are nowheres and nothings, and everywhere and everythings.
