Friends...

I finally got to play with one of my new stamp sets I got the beginning of the year. It's the Stampin' Up! Vintage Vogue set. I LOVE how this card came out. I did a lot of fussing over this card and ended up taking it apart a few times and adding stuff then taking stuff off and putting it back on etc. before I finally got it how I wanted it.

I actually made 2 of the same card, but I made them color opposites. So, on one card where there was pink, I made that same space teal on the other card, and vice versa on other colors. these cards have 3 colors, white, pink and teal. These cards are for sale, see bottom of post for info...

the butterflies are flowers that I altered and added pearl floral stamens to, to turn them into butterflies. :)
Here is a sneak peek at the card, click the clicky to read more and see the rest of the pics...

This card design is a design that I CASE'ed (copied and slightly edited). My card is actually more adorned and more completely finished (inside) than the original small picture that i saw that gave me this idea... I found the idea at Crouching Dog Graphics Blog. as you can see mine differs quite a bit from hers, and I did have to use other tools because I didn't have what she used (which is fine with me!).

So, here is the first card I made, I liked it so much, that is why I decided to to do a second card, but color opposites.
As you can see, I distressed all the edges of the card, except for the accordion folded backdrop on the left and the white that the Friends image is stamped on.
The pink pearls on the butterfly and the smaller pink pearl on the "i" in the Friends stamped image were all white, and I colored them with my pink sharpie marker. I've come to really enjoy being able to color my own pearls and gems to make them the exact color I want or need! the pearls are all attached with glossy accents for a super strong and long bond.

The butterflies were made from 5 petal wild orchid craft flowers. I just added 1 pearl floral stamen (folded in half) and hot glued it together (for an instant, strong hold). I adorned the wings all around the butterflies with stickles. the butterflies are attached to the card with stampin' up dimensionals that are glued down with glossy accents, just to make sure they don't fall off because they aren't exactly flat on the accordion folded cardstock.

the flower is either a recollections or prima flower, I don't remember which. it's attached with glue dots.

the backdrop on the left is bazzill cardstock (as is the teal cardstock and other pink cardstock under the sentiment). I used my fiskars scalloped sentiment border punch and then I used my martha stewart score board and scored it at every line on the board. after folding it accordion style, I adhered it with glue dots.
I used some 3/8 inch white grosgrain ribbon to tie a knot around the accordion base.

the above is the inside of the card. I stamped my sentiment from the SU! wings of friendship set. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp it centered. I then used the floral border from the vintage vogue set. i used a sticky note as a mask and only inked half of the stamp... Using my stamp-a-ma-jig I stamped it and then lined it up exactly where I wanted it. I did this on both sides of the sentiment. I love how it turned out!
Here is this card on it's back so you can see the dimension...
and another view from the other side...

Here is the color opposite of the above card... instead of a teal base and pink accordion fold, it has a pink base and teal accordion fold....

the majority of this card is the same,  except I used 2 pink (colored with my sharpie) pearls on the teal flower butterfly and one white one (was white, I didn't color it), and then on the white butterfly I used diamond gems, as well as a smaller one on the "i" in the Friendship sentiment. I also used a different colored flower.

here's the card inside, I did the same thing as the other card... I just used a different color of ink...

Here is this card on it's back to show dimension...
 and from the other side...

Here are the 2 cards side by side...
I'm VERY pleased with how these 2 cards came out... even with all the fussing I did and changing stuff, this came out much better than my original layout. I love it! :)

these cards are for sale if you are interested in purchasing them, send me an e-mail to bipolarcrafter@yahoo.com with the subject line of "blog purchase"
You can purchase this card by itself for $4.25 or with it's opposite color partner for a discount of .25 cents off each card ($8 total for both cards). Each card comes with a handmade by envelope out of white cardstock and a CUTE "sealed with a fish" envelope sticker seal that I hand stamped from my rainbow ink pad (3 color ink stamped image).

I try to be fair on all of my pricing, please keep in mind that I personally HAND MAKE every single card I sell. If you buy more than 2 cards and aren't local and they need to be shipped, I WILL combine shipping. I did NOT list shipping prices with the cards above because some people locally might purchase them or some long distance. I will calculate shipping based on where you live. These can NOT just be throw in an envelope and mailed, they must be all mailed to YOU in a bubble envelope if you purchase them, and mailed to the person you send them to in a bubble envelope (if you don't give them to someone local). please keep in mind that for that reason, shipping will be more than just a single or double postage stamp! Delivery confirmation is available upon request, and is free with "priority mail" shipping ONLY. otherwise, it is not free, there is a small fee.

if you are interested in purchasing anything you see in this post, please e-mail me at bipolarcrafter@yahoo.com I accept paypal as a form of payment, please do NOT send a payment without e-mailing me first, I will give you paypal information as it differs from this e-mail addy.

  1. I love these! I have never seen anyone take a 5 petaled flower and make a butterfly outta it! Pretty ingenious!

  2. Thanks, Laurie! :) I have to say, it's NOT my original idea. I saw a tutorial on it about a year ago, on some ladies blog, I couldn't find the link, so I couldn't post it. :(

they are SUPER easy to make! :)
