3 Birthday Cards!

Howdy Y'all. How are you all doing? things around here have been SO hectic for the last week, but I finally found some time to sit down and make a few cards :)
I was finally able to get my wisdom tooth surgically removed this past Monday. and boy was that a hassle and painful! I'm still in quite a bit of pain and these 3 stitches in my gum are irritating, to say the least! LOL
but, it's out and I'm glad, and this pain will be temporary! My back surgery is rescheduled for the 30th of this month (was mid November, but they had a cancellation so they penciled me in!) so I have a LOT to get done still by way of cards for my "Secret Santa Swap". haha I have to make 20+ cards for my partner, I've got half done, just haven't posted them here yet (shhhhhh she follows my blog!!) ;)

Well here are previews of my cards, I'll keep the rest of this post short and sweet, just a few pics and I'll list my supplies at the bottom of the post in case you wanna know what I used.

Previews, clickety click, click below for the full pics!

Well, I guess you were interested from my preview! Thanks :)

For this one I used quite a few different stamp sets and I really like how it came out. I did a 2nd one "similar", re-arranged a few things and used some different colors, but you'll get the idea. short and sweet. :)

Here is the front. I used an assortment of 6 different stamp sets to create this card (front and inside). For the front, there are 5 stamp sets, you can find my supplies listed at the end of this blog post. the inside has 1 stamp set used.
The guitar is stamped in Stampin' Up! Craft Black and then heat set with my Marvy Heat Embossing gun. The "craft" ink by Stampin' Up! MUST be heat set, I mean, unless you're going to let it sit for about an hour or two to dry. LOL but even then, it still tends to smear. with heat setting, it never smears. ;)

For this inside, I used  a hero arts cling stamp for the musical sentiment. You'll see the splotches of blue, i did that with my mini mister and some pearl ex. Pearl does NOT have a fixative in it so it has be mixed with a fixative or sprayed over with a fixative. since I don't like spraying hair spray on my cards, I just mix some gum arabic in with the pearl ex when I make my own mists. :) easy enough!

For this 2nd card, I used a lot of Stampin' Up! supplies. all the cardstock is Stampin' Up! as is the sentiment on the front and the sentiment on the inside.

I don't have a "flag" or "pendant" die, so I had to cut these flags all by hand. But I've decided to ask for a pendant/flag die set for Christmas from my ma, because I REALLY do like the look of how it came out and I'd probably do more cards like this if i weren't so horrifically bad at measuring. LOL
I ended up really screwing up and that's why there is SO much extra open space on the top tan part. there wasn't supposed to be that much open space, but because I didn't measure my pendants right, I cut about half an inch off the top of them so I had to improvise. LOL :-/

Oh, and, because I don't have a REAL paper piercer, I used one of my ultra fine tipped steak knives to make holes for my brads, and well, yeah! my accident prone self stabbed the tip of my knife right through my  index finger! thankfully I didn't get any blood on the card. LOL :-/
For the points on the pendants/flags I just used my SU! square punch. i don't have the heart punch, which would have given me a more precise and even cut but I improvised. haha

So for the inside, I wasn't going to put the tan cs, I was just going to stamp, I had just stamped the candle on the orange cs and was going to stamp my sentiment. But, being that my acrylic stamp didn't really do a good image, I was going to stamp it again. I went to pick up my ink pad to ink up the candle again and wouldn't know it, another accident. i dropped the ink pad right onto the cs, PAD TO CS. so i was like great, I have this huge blue square in the middle of the cs, that is just not salvageable.
:-/ so I ended up adding the cs. it doesn't look like the same color cs as the front, but it is. my camera flash is just super lightening bright. haha.

For my 2nd music birthday card, I used different colors and added a couple more stamped images. I changed the position of the diamond border and added another stamp of it. I also omitted the musical note filigree in the bottom left corner and added another stamp of the stars instead.

for the inside, I'm just showing the picture from the other music card I made since I did the same thing to the inside (color and all), but it totally skipped my mind to take a pic before I had filled it out for our nephew.
that is originally who I made this card for, and I ended up liking it so I duplicated it with a few changes.

Oh, I sent him the card with the RED on the front, not this one above. He likes red. :)

Well, those are my cards for now. I will definitely be on a card kick this weekend because I have about 15 more cards to do for my Secret Santa Swap partner before my surgery in less than 2 weeks! it's going to creep up on me fast!

Thanks for stopping by today and check below for a list of supplies used :)
Keep on Craftin'!

  3. Howdy, Naomi! thank you so much for your wonderful comments and for following my blog. :)

It definitely sounds like you are going through a lot in life. Life can be so difficult and I've always wondered why people are put through so much pain, but there MUST be a lesson to learn or something. I just haven't figured it out yet.
I'm so very sorry to hear about kidney stones, I know that can be a real pain! MS is no joke, and very difficult and life changing for sure, and fibro is very, very difficult to live with as well. I know, because I do! you should definitely talk to your dr. about that before accepting the MS diagnosis. a LOT of people are diagnosed with MS, undergo treatment only to find out that it isn't working because they were misdiagnosed (sadly).

I have a very good friend who's son has autism, and her little boy is one of the smartest kids I know and so happy-go-lucky! I'm so sorry he is having to undergo surgery on his feet. I know that can't be easy for any child, that kind of surgery sorta takes away part of their childhood (during healing). I hope that his surgery goes well and that he has a very speedy recovery!

I do some cards with digital images, I used to do them a lot, but it's rare since my printer likes to be a PITA (pain in the ass! lol). Ya know that saying "you get what you pay for", well I don't understand why my printer is such a PITA, cause my parents paid a pretty penny for it! lol
I will hop on over to your blog and check it out!

thank you so much for stopping by and I'm very glad that you've enjoyed my cards. :)
