Card for Hubby-NON Valentine-But Lovey Dovey

A card for my Hubby Hazen. Not a Valentine's specifically, but still something meaningful.
Hubby and I don't do anything to "celebrate" Valentine's day. I do greatly enjoy making cards for others for it and I do make him a card every year, but we don't actually do anything to celebrate. It's more of a Hallmark Holiday in our opinion.

I actually JUST made this card in the last 2 hours this morning. I had a card in mind that I wanted to make him, but I ran out of printer ink so I couldn't make some of the components the card needed, so I didn't make him anything when I was making other Valentine's cards. But I told him that and he wasn't mad at all. But, I came in my craft room to work on a Birthday card for our Nephew and just couldn't get my mojo together. Went to put back some supplies and saw my "anchor" stamp sitting on the top of a pile of block rubber stamps and the idea just popped into my mind.

So, the card didn't turn out "exactly" how I had pictured it in my mind, but it turned out pretty close and I even surprised myself by doing an extra element with the sentiment.

The card base is "Paper Source" brand Glossy Shimmer THICK cardstock. On top of that is Michael's brand Gray cardstock and then a layer of deco paper from the 6" x 6" pad of "Nautical Adventure" from Fun Stampers Journey. The cream cardstock under the knot twine is also Michael's brand.

The anchor stamp is a "Club Scrap" stamp from 2009. I stamped it on white cardstock in Versamark and then used Ranger super fine Black and Silver embossing powder to heat emboss it. I've recently gotten very good at doing duo and trio embossing powders on images. I don't know why I never did it before, it's pretty fun to do. It does waste a little bit of powder, but not that much if I'm very careful when tapping the edge of the container to distribute.
I die cut the anchor out with the Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Large circles.

Over the cream cardstock I made a white Square Reef Knot from Red Heart Size 3 Crochet Thread. I wanted to make it bigger than it is, but I didn't have anything bigger and I can't find my white yarn (which is what I was originally going to use). I tried to use some brown twine, but it just blended together too much and I couldn't really tell that it was a Square Reef Knot.
I adhered it to the cardstock with some Glossy Accents and I did a dab on each side of the actual knot so that it didn't get pulled or end up away from the card and ripping it (somehow, I dunno, I just saw it happening in my head, LOL)

The sentiment is one that I hand wrote. I adhered a black pearl to each of the ends of it with some Glossy Accents--I wanted to use mini black brads, but I couldn't find them in my stash, I'm missing a whole container of them. meh! Before adhering it to the scalloped circle I inked the edges with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The scalloped circle is from the Petite Scalloped Circles Large Nestabilities set.

I love how it turned out!

I used ZOTS on the back of the sentiment on each of the ends and just pushed it together a bit so that it made a bump in the middle.

Eventually I'll get an actual stamp that says the saying I hand wrote, but I didn't mind writing it because I think it added a nice personal touch.

Even though I didn't mind hand writing the sentiment, I didn't get it right on the first try! LOL 6th times the charm! haha!
I needed it to be just the right size to fit across the anchor but still leave some room to squish it together so it made the bump in the middle. And well, I just couldn't seem to write it in a straight line.
My 6th try was the best one I did so I went with it.

For the inside of the card I inked the edges of white cardstock with a Silver Ultimate Metallic Encore pigment ink pad. I stamped the sentiment from the SU! "Occasional Quotes" (Hostess) set. It's one of my favorite sentiments for any love themed card.

I filled out the inside with some thoughts about storms we've weathered and how there will always be rain in our path somewhere, but we'll always make it through. I thought it was fitting to the card, and it was how I was feeling at the moment I wrote it out.

That's it for this card, Thanks for checking it out!
